Merry Holidays you Kwanza jews

I tried to make that headline as PC as I possibly could, I think I failed miserably. Aaaaaanywho do you guys remember that time right after christmas when you didn't have to clean up, you didn't have to wear fancy clothes or get kissed by grandma for hours? You woke up in the early hours got out of bed as quickly as you could, and since most of you readers are gamers, you would go t the tv, plug in that new console, pop in that new gamecd and then play for a round or two and be full of excitement and childish glee. The years went by but you would still love that very cherrished alone time right before your parent awoke, just you and your presents that were more neatly wraped in the game than your parents could ever have imagined, the music, the colours, all of the fun and thrill of just running to the right and jumping could not be beat by anything in the world because right now and right there it was the only thing you wanted to spend your time with, only you and the game. One fateful christmas though you just had a sensory overload, you grew up and got clothes for christmas, got books and the games had become more lenghthy and complex, you wouldn't just pop them in anymore but you would install and read the instructions, you wouldn't just get into a game you would be sucked into a different world and it would take days, nay, weeks to even grasp the full extent of your presents which in and of itself was a blessing but sometimes I look back and I think about just waking up and playing with my presents for the first time, being able to test them all before my parents had even awoken and I miss these days.
They have had a resurgance for me though, I get multiplayer games ever so often now and after christmas when all the work was done, all the presents given we would just crash down on a couch and play together and I feel that fun and thrill again that I had playing with that giant power rangers robot or that new sonic game again.

-Have a very jolly christmas, even when you don't celebrate it, cherish the thick scent of love, cinnamon and cookies in the air because they are best inside all of us humans, D.

Don't you know it's christmaaaas

not really actually, it's like the 22nd and not the 24th so yeah.
I've always wondered how big you have to get to get your ass sued I mean I know we are completely non profit so it doesn't actually matter to us but still how big do we have to get to get sued for our constant use of stuff?

Creative writing or how to procrastinate through actually getting shit done

This is getting to a weird level really, while on the one hand I don't focus on anything in university and procrastinate all the work and learning I should be doing, on the other hand I have exhausted the entirety of the internet(I've seen some shit) and thus write instead of doing work for University which is....good? I guess? It feels really weird to sit there and instead of working work on something that actually takes more thought and work than what I'm actually supposed to do BUT it's pretty good for you guys I hope because I just finished a project that will prooooobably be posted on here too! I've also been working on another project that is probably gonna stay in written form, I'd like to get some input on the writing style but I'm not sure how to post it on Facebook without getting  Tl;dr wall of text just sitting there.

Risk of Steam

So there's a sale going on around Black Friday on Steam. I haven't sold my soul to this years sale yet but then again Gaben already owns me as I have around 100 games in my steam library. I also spent the past three hours playing a single round of risk of rain which is usually supposed to take around 30-40 minutes otherwise the enemies get ridiculously hard....needless to say, I love that game, go buy it if you like runny-jumpy-fighty games with roguelike elements, if not, we are not very much alike for I love those kindsa games.

Wrestling masks

I like wrestling masks, what about you? They make for great costumes and can look really cool and the good thing about these two is that since Philip and Louis have ABSOLUTELY no honour to begin with, they don't even care if they lose their masks!
I mean the Punderer and 4th wall breaker, not Philip and Louis,of course.

Not N'sync anymore

So I came up with these two completely original characters and first off I wanted to call the pun related guy pundemonium but I thiiiink there's a copyright on that nam, I wasn't sure, so I didn't use that and instead went for Punderer because...I dunno honestly, I've never been good at these kindsa things really. I intended to let the guy who looks suspiciously like Philip to be the Punderer but I fucked up something in the script or rather didn't specify enough so Philip interpreted it the other way round THEN also made the colour of some of the speechbubbles different than I intended, tried to fix it and just changed the colours around completely....needless to say we were more in sync for a lot of our comics than we were today, but we'll manage.

Comics

I've been working on a lot of comicy stuff recently and actually finished the draft for an upcomic project, yeah, finished, you heard that right! But I'm not gonna talk about the state of comics or our comic or something like that, today I'm not gonna bore you with that stuff I'm just gonna tell you what Philip told me today when he gave me the comic.

I watched Last Boyscout and Truman show today

And I gotta say The Last Boyscout had one of the best jokes I've heard in recent years. Why did Mr Milo cross the road? Because his dick was stuck in a chicken.
I laughed way too much at that one I think, but good movie honestly, next on my list is Taxi Driver.
I've also told Philip that  I have writers block recently, which is how he came up with todays comic, thing is though that I don't really have writers block currently it's just that I can't come up with webcomics recently, I have been writing a shitton of really good material though that I hope to actually finish for once too.

You're a Wizard Harry ... or rather Philip

I'm pretty sure his headaches ARE sign of developing psychic abilities but if they're not then...I dunno honestly, then he's got headaches, shucks.
I've been having a weird form of writers block recently, I've been writing about quadruple the amount that I usually write but none of it is particularly funny or good material for the comic, it is good material though but the comic stuff just doesn't come to me as easily right now.

Phoenix Wright Phoenix Wrong

So there's a new Phoenix Wright game for the 3DS and since I loved every single one of the old lawyering simulators, which are a completely accurate representation of how being a lawyer is like, I had to buy the new one too.
Today's comic puts all my thoughts about it into two simple statements: 1. Capcom DESPERATELY needs to hire proofreaders and 2. it's really annoying when you know what's wrong and which evidence to present but the game wants you to do something else somewhere else.
There's a point in the game where you prove beyond the shadow of a doubt that someone attacked another man to hide evidence about the case that indicts the first person of having commited the crime, in the real world that would be enough proof to get the guy behind bars but in the new Phoenix Wright game you have to prove something entirely different as well instead of just saying: and this proves that he attacked the dude, case closed, you're guilty of that one, we'll check back later for the other thing but now it's time to get donuts.

He's like Macgyver but also Rainman

Philip has built his own arcade machine, a boat together with his father and probably a house for some poor orphan child but give the man anything that is not dangerous and he will turn it into a deadly weapon and use it against himself. I've seen Philip just suddenly bleed from his nose, basically kill himself on a bike and I'm pretty sure at one point there was a story with a sponge, water and a 100 feet fall straight to the ground, that might've just been a dream though....I remember a golden unicorn....

I am the night

I feel like Arkham Asylum was somewhere around midnight and Arkham city was pretty much exactly at midnight, hitting all the right tones with the bossbattles, setting a great mood but maybe slightly underusing Twoface. Arkham Origins is somewhere around 3 am really.
If you hear someone talk about midnight you know shit is gonna go DOWN, every good kids horror story starts or ends at midnight, the time where the ghosts and ghouls come out of their graves to dance and prance around the neighbourhood but I think we should stop to consider that 3 am is even fucking scarier. Think about it, if you are around my age, or rather, if you are anything above or around 16 years old, there's a fair chance that you were awake and maybe/probably even outside at around midnight and it was a pretty nice time, stars in the skies and people partying but 3 am? imagine being at a busstop in the middle of nowhere waiting for your last bus home, yeah, at the end of the day that sounds worse than midnight, doesn't it?
I'm not trying to say that Origins is better than City because frankly it isn't, but when city perfected the formula then Arkham Origins uses every last aspect that City made so good and that deserves an honourable mention.

Beard

If you are male and around my age or higher then at one point in your life you probably thought: hey how about I grow a beard?
Now there's several ways of going about this but as most women will tell you don't grow a beard.
I like beards but I don't think there is one that really suits me aside from a morning shadow which you can't really grow and groom but aside from that FOOLED YOU. I think/hope/guess. I tried to go the normal evil twin/parallel universe angle and then not pull it at all and I think it worked surprisingly well.

Something is on it's way

It's something big guys, expect everything and then be bitterly and harshly disappointed and disposed as we find better friends and better viewers/readers....I sound awfuly bitter today. I assure you there is no reason for this and I'm just ever so slightly bored which always makes my writing just this tad bit more incosistent.
Cherry pie.

-adios,D.

P.S.: If Cherry pie is some form of innuendo then I am not aware of that and didn't mean it but it would be a lovely addition now wouldn't it?

P.P.S.: Is there really much I can say about the shutdown at this point? As a german it just seemed very...odd to me. Nothing else really so sorry, for once I don't have valuable input on the economy and inner politics of a country. Even the greatest spirits rest sometimes.

Going insane

I actually had this same conversation with myself a few days ago...concerning...

Something else:
There’s no earthly way of knowing
Which direction we are going
There’s no knowing where we’re rowing
Or which way the river’s flowing

Is it raining, is it snowing
Is a hurricane a-blowing?

Not a speck of light is showing
So the danger must be growing
Are the fires of Hell a-glowing
Is the grisly reaper mowing?
Yes, the danger must be growing
For the rowers keep on rowing
And they’re certainly not showing
Any signs that they are slowing!

200 comics, 34000 page views,3 1/2years
and we're movin on.

An affront to taste

This actually happened to Philip, he listened in on a conversation on the train between too people and one of them said that Halle Berry is the BEST actress to ever portray Catwoman. This person's favourite catwoman was Halle Berry. Let that sink in.
Yeah.
That's right.
This replies to everything you've ever watched and loved. Someone is out there who thinks/thought Oldboy needs a Hollywood remake. Carrie needs a "modern" remake. The worst thing of all? There's thousands of people who liked Jar Jar Binks.

A game's narrative vs a game's,well,game

GTA 5 comic Ulimited ammo humor nerd ps3 gaming webcomic
What is storytelling in games? Is it the story that is being told in there as a narrative structure, conveying what the maker intended you to see, you just being someone who pushes a button to make said story get along or is it the gameplay that is being played by you, the little adventures you get on that no one even intended to be adventures. There's a yoga ball in Michaels house in GTA5 and you can roll it out of your house and around on the streets and you know what? That's what GTA is all about, the little things you come up with on your own, it's running around shooting things, it's sitting on your couch watching TV, it's harbering a grudge against a random NPC on the street because you don't like their t-shirt, and then you chase them for hours and hours until you are fed up with their stupid fucking t-shirt and put a bullet through their brain. I used to feel guilty for not playing the story but rather going through the world doing random stuff but not anymore since nowadays I understand games as a medium of their own with different stylistic tools, and a different way of conveyance.
Fuck that guy's shirt.

Interaction in the Pokemon universe

Remember when you were younger and going to a school where you just KNEW there were loads of people playing the new Pokemon games and you could exchange pokemon and tips with them and even if you didn't have an older sibling who was into pokemon so that you had both renditions of the current pokemon gen, you could still have fun with the game and with people.
Those times are kind of over for me unless I do find out that everyone in University plays the new Pokemon but then how would I find that out without revealing that I bought the newest pokemon game.
I know there's all the internet stuff in the new Pokemon games but I never had that reliable a connection and I have absolutely NO clue how the whole streetpass thing works, could someone explain that to me?

Tl;dr: I played a lot of pokemon today and it's fun.

Clan Conflict

Family Feud Board Comic
Currently watching star trek, no time. Picture is probably small, ill exchange it later.
EDIT: Star Trek was pretty darn good, the emotional moments kind of hit me and I really enjoyed the character developement. I also watched Ironman 3 and that movie was okay too, didn't like the ending that much and I noticed how Marvel takes everything DC does and finds a childish and not thought through solution to the complex DC problem. The thing I just described becomes pretty apperent with EVERYTHING Ironman EVER does in the movieverse, he's like a fucked up version of Batman who kills people without much regret, uses his powers for whatever he wants and whenever that becomes a conundrum he just goes: meeeeh fuck it I'll just stop doing it. In Avengers he just tapped into ALL mobilephones in the world which was the biggest point in Batman The dark Knight and in this movie he goes through the whole my powers are too strong for me thing and well...he finds a childish solution

Meanwhile at the other side of town

Philip and Greg are up to no good again, ooooh golly what crazy shenanigans are about to ensure nooooow?

I'm happy with this

I think writing a female character is gonna be a lot of fun because I already am one of the most female'y people in the world when it comes to love and romance so writing Alice is gonna be the excact opposite of that because women are inherently evil.
I probably shouldn't write a character with that mindset now should I?

GTA V

Yeah so I did end up writing a comic about the game but it's just so goddamn pretty! Driving around the largest city I have ever seen inside a game has just something soothing and meditative about it and I really like the characters so far.
I didn't really get far into the game yet so I can't say that much but one thing that is a huge thing in the game for me, this game was the first form of media EVER that made me go: Oh wow....is that how my father thinks? Geez now I feel slightly sorry.
Then again the kid is a downright prick and I'm not so I guess it doesn't really apply here.
So yeah the game is good, beautiful, even moreso if you consider that it runs on five+ year old hardware, and Philip and me spent the past two days just driving around the desert even though we could've gone to stripclubs and shot people in the face, it's either us(mostly Philip considering I'm not the "shooting people in the face in games" type that much) growing up or it's this game being geniunely...soothing.
Now THAT is a boxart quote that you don't expect on a GTA game.

The day the earth stood still

So today yesterday I came across a chance, I could make something very related to a certain real world occurence, yes, you all know what I'm talking about, jesus has come back and made a videogame named GTA 5 and everyone now simultaneously has sex with it all over the world. Now I actually had an idea for a comic about it but then I thought back about ANOTHER real life occurence that I thought was funnier and more important to address and that is the live-hashtagging fad that is going around tv. If you are in america or watch a lot of american shows you know what I'm talking about, it is EVERYWHERE. While watching the new season of whose line is it anyway every minor little thing that could be made into a hashtag was made into a fucking hashtag and then it got me thinking, I almost got spoiled about some things on Breaking Bad(the best tv show ever made aight?) and I thought that it'd be hilarious but also very dickish if they did the whole livehashtagging thing with that show so while watching let's say a character says he'S pregnant and on the bottomright it just says #jesseispregnant, man as a german who doesn'T get to watch the show while it first airs that shit would piss me off,

-adios,D.

P.S.: Jesse is not pregnant, that was just an example so I didn't have to spoil the show, calm down everyone who hasn't watched the show yet.

Nametaking

In the beginning there was a character , and thus an idea to make a comic!
Then there were more characters but a lack, a lack of something, a lack of that one bit that would make it more than just awesome!
What better to make it awesome then taking names and oh what glorious names there could have been but the one that would've almost stuck was the good, the bad and the sickly depraved but that name was too long, to bad a form and not exact enough, not snappy.
So I thought and thought and I had jokes en mas, unlimited ammo for jokes you might say.

Quick pace

Japanese animation is quick, funny and skips a few frames sometimes but it doesn't explain anything at all to the viewer that's also why japanese RPG's have so much explanation and story behind them it's because the japanese don't trust their eye in telling a story. That is of course just my ramblings I'm sure there's a completely different reason for this.
On another note, have you noticed how big we are? Our comic is one of the top things on Google if you look for Unlimited ammo and we have a shitton of comics on here. How about you start reading our comic from comic number 1 again and tell all your friends about us?Y'know...just an idea...

Animation

Next time you watch any american cartoon or animation, try to compare it to japanese anime style. American cartoons feel SOOOO much slower than anything japanese and EVERYTHING is being explained in EXCRUTIATING detail sometimes.

He didn't even know

Philip wrote todays comic because he was too procrastinatey to draw the one I made! Funny thing is that I've been playing this game the past two days too and Philip didn't even know.
See that's the thing about Philip, he has EVERY SINGLE bad character trait that I have too and far worse than me too, he is much more stubborn and he procrastinates a shitton too but people never notice because they are too selfindulged but I know, I notice and the worst of all, even though you THINK I'm too selfindulged to notice, I really am not.

I write this comic so everything that happens and everyone in it is just a figment of my imagination and in some way shape or form a part of me. Styles

It's weird writing things on a weekly basis and noticing your style developing slowly but steadily so every once in a while as a writer you try to escape the clutches of your own style and go somewhere else with it and that's what I tried to do today. My humour is VERY dialoguecentric, I like the obsurd fast speaking with lots of non-information in a sentence and things happening in the background that are funny little bits that don't have anything to do with what's going on in the foreground. The problem you have to face at some point is that your style doesn't fit what you're trying to accomplish and my style is not one that goes from joke to joke without care, I try to link it, make it make sense inside of a bigger picture and referr to what happened before.

tldr: Today's comic is a lot more like a sketch than like a sitcom or a comedic movie, hope you enjoy it.

Pretty sure I've mentioned this before

If you want a challenge then play Indie games, that is just a fact of our modern gaming culture and it's never been more obvious than with Spelunky I think. Spelunky is an amazing randomly generated platformer that hates you with every pixel inside of it and it wants you to constantly die but it's oh so fun. You learn the different puzzle pieces of the game, the enemies, the traps, the shops and much more and you can put them together in your head but then comes a moment where you throw a rock at an enemy but fall down a ledge faster than the rock fell, the rock falls on you while you are standing on an ancient sacrifice table and because you get knocked out from the stone dropping straight on your head, you get sacrificed to khali. It's the kinda game that is fun despite of or maybe even because of it's challenge and if I ever play it together with my friends again in multiplayer I might have to kill someone.

Character archetypes

Let me tell you something about the depiction of women and men in modern media.
Okay please put those pitchforks away, I'm going to try to be reasonable here for once!
Let us not discuss if women are treated unfairly in our modern times because that will just bring hate upon me, let's instead try and focus on how people try to get rid of that prejudice and that is the modern archetype of the male manchild and the female know-it-all and can-do-it-all.
To further argue my point we make an assumption here that is often made in modern media and that isn'T far from the truth, that being that women can do everything men can do just as well. Okay I can accept that and following from that you can deduce that men can do everything men can do just as well. That was obvious! I hear you say but bear with me here because this is an important thing to set into stone before moving on, YES men as a whole can do certain things that women as a whole can do just as well and individuals within these preset groups can do things just as well as the other individuals. SOMETIMES.  Some women CAN'T play soccer as well as men. Revolutionary and chauvinistic idea isn't it? Until you realise that what I mean is that there's women out there who are worse at sports than male proathletes, but just because I compare them to men it's suddenly egotistical and wrong of me to say this. No it fucking isn't wrong, that particular woman may be worse at this particular thing than most men are at it, that doesn't make women as a whole worse it just makes that girl bad at that thing.
For some reason we have to portray all men in media as manchildren these days and mostly in webcomics that makes the woman the loving and charming person that understands why the male characters blow shit up but they still love him for it because it makes him quirky.
I'm not going for that in Alice, she's just as batshit insane as the rest of us, maybe not in the same way but she's still fucking crazy and that's the most adult way of going about it is not making her point out how superior she is to make us realize that women are equal( which by the way is the most retarded way of doing it because you're clearly stating that you're BETTER than men and not equal so wtf?) but instead make her just another freak in the freak kingdom.

-adios,D.

P.S.: Shout out to Patrick who may or may not be sitting in a plane right now that is headed towards fucking Japan. Yeah Japan, crazy where life leads us isn't it?

Sunday, August 11, 2013

From a different perspective

Is that really how you perceive a romance story that someone wrote about himself and a fictional character? I mean granted most fanfictions revolve around that same principle but those stories usually make any character inside the romance story into zeus and thor at fucking once. Writing a story about yourself is admittedly weird in a way shape or form and it's ridiculously hard to show yourself in the way that you are, with bad and good but I think I did a pretty good job os it in the comicy sense that we have done here, but the question that Philip raises with this. Is it weird to portray yourself with fictional characters or in a fictional way? Even more so is it weird to make OTHERS portray you in such a way? Comissioning drawings of yourself on a unicorn with a character you made up, making sweet sweet love to one another isn't weird is it?
Of course it isn't! That'S what stories are after all, everyone who writes just splits himself up into a thousand parts and keeps reinventing himself over and over again or he uses traits from people he knows and loves and puts those into the characters, and don't even get me started on people who draw themselves with giant guns in tuxedoes and masks.
Sure I'M the weirdo.

Done with that

Have I mentioned yet why Louis is making these? Philip is at friggin Wacken which is like the biggest metal festival.... That kinda scares me to be honest because well...what has he been up to? He's Philip! I feel scared and weirded out at the two prospects that I have in my head one being that he is just straight up dead because someone did something or which is for some reason worse in my head the other prospect that he socialised with EVERYONE there has a billion friends now and more gils on his hands than he has hands...and maybe even feet too...so weird.

Selfadoration

Philip is on a rather famous metal festival over the next few days so we asked our VERY good friend to write todays and sundays comic for us. He said yes and from the comic that has come out of that already you might guess who it was that we asked. It was Louis.
He loves himself.

I always feel bad when I do this

I most probably mentioned this before but I just HATE putting myself in the foreground in the comic because it makes me feel like an arrogant bastard. Not that me being an arrogant bastard is wrong I just don't want to show it to everyone and I don't think I'm the funniest in-comic character so I put Philip in the focus most of the time because he's not the hero that you deserve but the hero that you need right now. Getting so much attention in the comic while not being the focus is a neat little change of pace though and I think it works rather well as a storytelling element but you probably aren't even reading this because Philip drew a female character that will have more screentime than just getting attacked by burly hairy men or small dwarfish Philip.

Diary entry number 10000008

starfleet time: banana

I have lost all sense of time and space in this place inbetween, well, time and space and I very much fear for my sanity or how much of it I ever had. I am fairly certain that yesterday was Tuesday which makes today the rest of the end of my life. Maybe it makes today into a wednesday too I'm not entirely sure on the semantics here for I am just floating in this sort of inbetween where I do get to actually see humans but I don't seem to care for seeing them after I've seen them, you ever do that thing where you come back from someones place all alone and done for the day and you just sit down and look around the room and you think: nothing has happened the past four hours that I could recall right now. I suppose the fact of the matter is that we have lost our heroes that would make us remember time and instead we measure in quantities of tragedy. When was the last time you saved the world? Well I don't know but I remember what I did when that place with the thing was hit by...okay so maybe I don't even remember tragedies these days and maybe that's my own personal problem but you decided to read this and I decided to write this so one of us has to change his decision here and maybe that's gonna be me right in the middle of
